Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held an Express Entry draw for transport occupations on October 28, 2026. The round issued 150 invitations to apply for permanent residence, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 477.
This category-based draw targeted candidates who met both the Express Entry eligibility requirements and the specific requirements for the transport occupations category.

Which Transport Occupations Are Eligible?
The transport category covers specific occupations listed by IRCC. NOC refers to Canada’s National Occupational Classification system.
| Occupation | NOC Code |
|---|---|
| Aircraft mechanics and aircraft inspectors | 72404 |
| Air pilots, flight engineers and flying instructors | 72600 |
| Aircraft instrument, electrical and avionics mechanics, technicians and inspectors | 22313 |
| Automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics, and mechanical repairers | 72410 |
Important: Working in the transportation industry does not automatically qualify someone for this category. For example, truck drivers are not included in the list above, while truck and bus mechanics are.
What Work Experience Is Required?
Candidates must have accumulated at least 12 months of full-time work experience, or an equivalent amount of part-time experience, within the previous three years in a single eligible occupation. The experience may have been gained in Canada or abroad and does not need to be continuous.
Candidates must also qualify for at least one program managed through Express Entry and meet all requirements specified for the round. Meeting the category requirements alone does not guarantee an invitation.

What Do the CRS Cut-Off and Tie-Breaking Rule Mean?
The CRS score of 477 was the cut-off for this particular draw, not a fixed requirement for future rounds.
For eligible candidates with a score of exactly 477, the profile submission date also mattered. Their profiles needed to have been submitted before June 4, 2026, at 21:48:22 UTC to meet the tie-breaking requirement.
What Happens After Receiving an Invitation?
An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is not a final approval of permanent residence. Invited candidates have 60 days to submit their complete application and supporting documents. IRCC then assesses eligibility, the accuracy of the information provided and admissibility before making a decision.
